Welcome to the September edition of the HousingPEOPLEnewsletter.  September promises to be a very busy month both for the AHI staff and members. With the Awards nominations being still open and State Award Receptions to be held in NSW, SA and NZ, with the Seminar in Sydney and preparation of the following HousingWORKS edition - there will be plenty of opportunities to communicate with our members.

2013 Awards Program 

Closing date for Awards nominations has been extended!
Following numerous requests from our members, the closing date for nominations has been extended until Tuesday, 10th September 2013, therefore you still have a chance to highlight the efforts of your colleagues and initiatives of your tenants. We've already received more than 60 nominations from all around Australia and New Zealand outlining successful projects and inspiring stories from housing authorities, small and large community housing providers, from tenants and dedicated teams. So don't miss this chance to take part in a celebration of the  success of the housing industry and dedicated people working in it.
The 2013 AHI Awards feature eight categoriesInspirational Colleague, Outstanding Achievement, Excellence in Social Housing, Leading Innovation, Leading Housing Project, Leading Asset Management, Leading Tenants Engagement Practice, Tenant Led Initiative.

HousingWORKS

September 2013 edition of HousingWORKS - 'Ending Homelessness'

Following the interesting and successful collaboration with the Council to Homelessness Persons during the preparation of the joint edition of HousingWORKS - Parity magazine, we've decided to continue exploring the important topic of homelessness. The topic of the following, September 2013, edition of HousingWORKS is"Ending Homelessness" and we are welcome contributions from the industry. Share your experience of how your organisation helps homeless people. Whether you have developed  effective models of collaboration between homelessness and housing providers; or management of your organisation participated in the 'CEO sleep-out', share your story with peers as every little effort is important if it helps to reduce the level of homelessness or inspires others to act to solve homelessness in our communities.
