Position Description

This organisation has been providing housing to single women since 1982.  Single women are the fastest growing homeless group. This tier 2 registered community housing provider needs your exceptional organisational skills, empathy and sense of urgency and compassion to support these women to sustain their tenancies, put them in touch with support services and encourage their involvement ad participation in community programs and other tenant events that help improve their lives.

There are two roles currently available:

Housing Manager - The Housing Manager role is permanent, full time for an immediate start.  You report to the Team Leader and will be responsible for a portfolio f properties and their tenancies.  You must demonstrate:

  • Resilience
  • Exposure and understanding of tenancy management systems
  • Knowledge of support providers
  • Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act (RTA)
  • Ability to collect rent and manage payment plans
  • Experience attending NCAT (tribunal) for when things to do not go as planned
  • Attend and run a selection of tenant engagement and participation initiatives
  • Be able to be an effective, multi-tasking member of the team who works hard and is motivated by helping others

Essential Criteria:  To be successful in this role you must have:

  • At least 1 years' experience working in tenancy management in real estate, Housing NSW or government
  • Attended or supported attendance at NCAT
  • Commitment to supporting those in crisis
  • Exceptional computer skills
  • Excellent letter writing and communication skills - the ability to diffuse difficult conversations
  • An even temperament who stays calm under pressure and can role model the values of a community services worker
  • A current and full driving licence (i.e. not probationary)

Desirable Crieria:

  • Relevant qualifications in social housing or real estate
  • Knowledge of Housing Pathways and social housing policy and practice

Junior Housing Officer (Traineeship) - Mid Year start

This traineeship is a rare and unique entry level opportunity, ideal for those who have recently left High School, return to work Mums or those who are looking for a career change.  The length of this traineeship is 12 months; you will work 35 hours per week, with 3 hours per week for study during work time.  Completing this traineeship will qualify you with a Certificate IV in Social Housing.  No previous experience is required for this role.

You must demonstrate:

  • Ability to clearly follow direction
  • High attention to detail
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Fantastic Customer Service skills
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills

Essential criteria:  To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Some experience working in any customer facing role (retail, hospitality etc)
  • Commitment to supporting those in crisis
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • A strong passion to work in community housing
  • An even temperament who stays calm under pressure and can role model the values of a community services worker
  • A current and full NSW driving licence (i.e. not probationary)

Some travel within NSW may be required for this role.
